We are so amped to bring you the first episode of a new podcast series we’ve created with our friends at BibRave called, Making It: an AfterShokz Podcast Series by BibRave. The series explores the pathways, trials, and tribulations of a variety of athletes as they try to “make it” at the highest levels of their sport.
We know that sometimes – ahem, sometimes 😉 – it can be hard to get out the door for your run or ride. Life gets in the way, that lazy voice gets louder, and boredom can creep in – all conspiring to thwart your daily miles. We wanted to help combat the boredom piece by bringing in some inspiring stories – all served up via those sweet vibes from your AfterShokz headphones!
Across the Making It series, we’ll be featuring conversations with the final golfer to earn his 2019 PGA tour card, Brand Ambassador Bubba Wallace on what it means to be African American in the sport of NASCAR, and other compelling stories of athletes fighting their way to the top.
In this first episode, we’re bringing you the story of Chaz Davis – a high-performing college track athlete who was really starting to hit his stride before everything changed. He was suddenly struck with an ailment known as Leber Hereditary Optic Neuropathy – a common mitochondrial disorder that robbed him of his sight.
Listen to the episode to hear how Chaz was initially crushed, how he regained his motivation and learned to run again, and how he plans to compete in the Marathon at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games.
You can find this episode of Making It wherever you get your podcasts! Here are some quick links to listen on iTunes, Stitcher, Overcast, and Spotify.
We hope you enjoy this conversation with Chaz as much as we did! Be sure to share your thoughts with us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.
