Running Locas, a run club based in Long Beach, California, is on a mission to create a supportive and secure space for female runners. For this group of goal-oriented women, Shokz is the ideal running partner thanks to the headphones’ open-ear design that allows them to stay aware of their environment while listening to running soundtracks to motivate them.
Recently, they joined forces with Shokz for a special celebration of women's empowerment, resilience, and community. Through our partnership, we aimed to honor the indomitable spirit of women who've rewritten the rules, sparked inspiration, and showcased that strength transcends gender boundaries. Each themed run became a tribute to these phenomenal women, echoing our core ethos at Shokz - Be Open.
First stop - The Running Locas Run Residency at goodr Cabana
This kicked off our month-long tribute to female trailblazers. Each themed run honored these pioneers who left their mark, their stories inspiring us to chase our own adventures.
March 2 - Run Like Switzer
This run honored Kathrine Switzer, the badass who defied the odds and became the first woman to conquer the Boston Marathon in 1967. Participants rocked sweatpants and bibs, just like Kathrine, channeling her pioneering spirit. Shokz fueled every mile with uninterrupted music thanks to our bone conduction tech, keeping you comfortably in the zone and focused on crushing your goals.
March 9 - Alexi Pappas' Creativity Takes the Course
This run celebrated the inspiring Alexi Pappas, a multi-talented Greek-American long-distance runner, actress, and filmmaker. Pappa's perseverance and innovation are values we champion and admire at Shokz. We channeled her fierce spirit with glitter, bracelet making, and a course that defied limits.
March 16 - Flo-Jo Takes Flight!
Participants channeled their inner "Flo-Jo," the legendary Florence Griffith-Joyner, for a marathon shakeout run. Rocking LA gear, they celebrated the fastest woman ever recorded. Shokz kept the energy pumping with a custom playlist for every powerful stride, echoing Joyner's groundbreaking spirit and our relentless drive to push the boundaries of technology.
March 23 - Running Locas Turns 7
This 7th anniversary bash transformed into a vibrant celebration of community, resilience, and our shared journey. Runners flaunted tutus and all things colorful for the aptly named Unicorn Run. It was a day to celebrate how far we've come, the strength we find in each other, and the pure joy of this empowering community. Shokz was there to amp up the experience, keeping the laughter and cheers flowing freely.
March 30 - Wilma's Golden Finish
The month culminated in a shining tribute to Wilma Rudolph, a true champion who defied the odds to win three Olympic gold medals after battling polio as a child. Runners shimmered in golden outfits, channeling Rudolph's unwavering spirit and honoring her incredible triumph. It was a powerful moment of reflection and inspiration for all. Shokz provided the soundtrack to this celebratory run, keeping everyone motivated and connected thanks to our open-ear audio designs.
Reflecting on a Month of Empowerment
This month was a powerful reminder of what we can achieve together. We celebrated community, big and small wins, and the magic that happens when we lift each other up.
